Supporting Community Connection: Deb Takes the Stage

When Deb performed at the New Voice Parkinson’s Choir concert, it was a special day for her and the entire community. We were honoured to play a part in making this meaningful event possible.

For Deb, performing with the choir isn’t just about music – it’s about staying connected to her community, pursuing her passions, and being part of something bigger than herself. But participating in events like this requires careful coordination and support, which is where person-centred care makes all the difference.

In the lead-up to the concert, Sonia and Sarah, Deb’s Dovida caregivers, worked behind the scenes to ensure everything ran smoothly.

Together, they organised song lists, worked through practice sessions at home, and prepared for the big day. On the day of the performance, her caregivers arranged safe transport to the venue and helped Deb feel comfortable and ready to perform.

This level of support provided complete peace of mind for Deb’s family. Rather than worrying about logistics or rushing to help with preparations, Deb’s family could come straight from work knowing their loved one was already settled, prepared, and ready to enjoy the celebration.

This is what quality, person-centred care looks like in action. It’s not just about meeting basic needs – it’s about enabling people to live full, engaged lives in their communities. Whether it’s attending choir practice, performing at concerts, or pursuing any other passion, our role is to provide the support that makes it possible.

The choir, a wonderful initiative supporting people living with Parkinson’s, exemplifies the power of community connection. We’re proud to support our clients to remain active participants in groups and activities that bring them joy and purpose.

These are the moments that matter. These are the moments we’re here for.
